If they just get a 32X core to comebout with the Saturn one, develop an N64 core, and someone builds a better BT controller for Colecovison/Atari 5200/Intellivision, and MS opens up their OG Xbox BC program again, that will be the time for me. It will be a bit of a game changer though when those PS1 and Saturn cores come out. But I'll still also use those original consoles as well on my CRT from time to time.īeen toying around with getting a Retron 77 for my Atari games, since playing on a MiSTer without the proper controller or console switches just doesn't feel right.
And I'm playing around with adapters to let me use original controllers for the Atari 5200 and Colecovison cores. I still use my 32X, Saturn, GC, and OG Xbox.

And I just got the Switch N64 controllers so I'm planning on testing those out on PC with an N64 emulator. I'll still pull out the original PS1 if I want to play on CRT or any light gun games. It is worth going to the arcades around here for that once in a while.ĭuckstation runs really good on my X1X, so I've ripped all my PS1 games and play them on that for now, for convenience.

Even ps2 and gamecube software emulation is pretty good on a decent system. I'll say though - I played some Ms Pacman at our local arcade, and I was soooo much better on a CRT with a proper 4 way stick. For everything pre-ps2/xbox/gamecube there's generally great emulation out there and the original hardware is getting very long in the tooth. Really it is authentic feeling controls and lag thing for me and Analogue is pretty damn close. Have an MVS-X with the softmod that is way more fun. Use my Pi4 for arcade emulation, PS1, etc, but I spent far more time configuring it and fiddling than I did playing it.

USB adapter support on PS3 (even my modded BC fat one) for DDR is apparently laggy/dicey. I have a real PS2 I bought the wife last year for DDR and a Red Octane foam pad I got my hands on for it. I use authentic wired controllers for that except for RPGs and such that it doesn't matter. Only thing I wish for sometimes is the slightly better scanlines that emulators can have. I'm using Analogue systems on my OLED and it is really nice. Tend to use USB adapters with OG controllers (8bitdo until very recently had awful diagonals on their dpads, except for the Genesis one). I really hate input lag though and I am really finicky about controllers. I realized I didn't have time for them with toddlers and school and work.

I had all of them hooked up to a 7-port switcher - the basics plus a modded Saturn, Dreamcast, GC, OG Xbox, PS3 fat, etc.
The Emulators section will look like this:- .
Many people have taken advantage of the fact that the Xbox is so similar to a pc to trick others that their emulator was real when in reality it did nothing or was a virus.I ditched most of my real retro systems in the late 2000s. FTP it to your PC, and edit it with any text editor to make sure that the Emulators section of the menu is looking in the same location as you have placed the emulators on your Xbox. You can also find many homebrew applications and emulators that run ON the Xbox. It uses modified x86 compatible hardware and thus it is possible to write an emulator for it.
